A strong start to 2012…

IDI is off to a strong start in 2012. We were awarded a large reconstruction project in Marietta, Georgia last week; and are currently negotiating/bidding several other projects in Atlanta, Savannah, Texas, Tennessee, and Virginia.

The client came to us in late October 2011 in hopes of opening their store by Black Friday. After an initial consultation we moved forward with providing the client with a design-build delivery. We received a notice to proceed at the end of October, less than three weeks later the client had their certificate of occupancy, and ample time to prepare for opening day (Black Friday). This three week timeline included: initial site visit, design, permitting, demolition, construction, inspections, and obtaining the certificate of occupancy(CO).

Kroger Marietta Reconstruction

This project, like many we do for the Kroger Company, involved intensive reconstruction of both the interior and exterior of the facility. The existing exterior design was the ‘Superstore 2′ design with tower (see last photo), a design we rolled out several generations ago. The entire facade would be demolished and rebuilt to the what you see now. The interior was equally as intensive. As customers shop they would notice a complete decor upgrade, 33 seat Bistro, all new equipment, and a new pharmacy. Employees would take note of their newly expanded and overhauled prep rooms, new equipment, and an updated conference room. No area of this sixty-six thousand square foot facility went untouched during this project, and through careful construction phasing no service interruption to customers occurred.

Merle Norman Fit-Up

Last week we wrapped up a Merle Norman tenant fit-up in Conyers, Georgia. The project is expected to be completely constructed by Thanksgiving, allowing the tenant to fully capitalize on Black Friday. After a few short days of design the tenant will reap the rewards associated with accurate and comparable bids between the contractors.
